Hello

The TECHWOOD RT830S is a clone of the ENGEL DTT-3000

Here you got a file for update it, wich give solutions to several problems:

The problems are:

1º The programs appears on screen by this way: 801,802,803,etc...

After update it: 1,2,3,4,5,6,etc...

2º You can not organize or change the channels from one position to other.
After update it ... yes, you can!!!

And, after update,here is one minimal change that affects to the remote control:

the buttons P+, P-( program up/down) and V+,V-(volumen up/down) change to:
the cursor keys : up and down for program, an left and right for volumen.
So, after update, P+,P-,V+ and V- doesn't work on it's usual way,
but going on working on the cursor keys.


For update it:

There is 2 type of receiver:

-one that can be update by serial port, using a special cable, who is not an standard one, so you have to built it
as it comes on the manual.With hyperterminal of windows( programs/accesories/comunnications/hyperterminal).

-other that can not be update by serial port, so you have to open the receiver and update it by JTAG conector
(20 pins), using jkeys and a jtag interface. The way to do it it's no very difficult:

1º - After conecting all, make a dump of the flash of the receiver.It's for security.

2º - You have to remove an SMD transistor, it's the Q123 and it's on the left of the flash memory.After that,
you can erase the flash and then, program with the jtag file(1 MB).
3º - Finally put the transitor Q123 back on his place and then you can probe it.

If there is problem of DCU error with jkeys,(usually when the receiver it's blocked) join the pin 115 of STI5518
with ground(for example, rca connector).

Hope you have lucky for update it.

Voici une traduction aussi exacte que possible sans disposer du récepteur.

Le TECHWOOD RT830S est un clone de l'ENGEL DTT-3000

Elle règle plusieurs problèmes:

1º numérotation actuelle : 801,802,803,etc... devient : 1,2,3,4,5,6,etc...
2º on ne peut pas actuellement changer la position des programmes; après la mise à jour, oui.

Note: Après la mise à jour il y a un petit changement à la fonctionnalité de la commande à distance: les touches P+, P- (programme +/-) et V+,V-(volume +/-) sont remplacées par (interverties avec ?) les touches de curseur.

Pour mettre à jour, on distingue 2 types de récepteurs:
-l'un qui peut être mis à jour par le port série au moyen d'un cable spécial (non standard) à confectionner soi-même selon les explications du manuel. Pour la mise à jour, utiliser Hyperterminal de Windows (programmes/accessoires/communications/hyperterminal).
-l'autre qui ne peut pas ête mis à jour par le port série: il faut l'ouvrir et utiliser le connecteur JTAG (20 pins), en utilisant jkeys (1) et un interface JTAG. Ce n'est pas très difficile (2):

1º - Après connexion, faire un dump (sauvegarde) de la flash du récepteur (par mesure de sécurité : permet de revenir en arrière).
2º - Enlever le transistor Q123 à gauche de la mémoire flash. Ensuite, vous pouvez effacer la flash et la reprogrammer avec le fichier JTAG (1 MB).
3º - Remettre le transitor Q123 à sa place; vous pouvez tester le résultat.

S'il y a un problème (message "DCU error") avec jkeys, (généralement quand le récepteur est bloqué) mettre la pin 115 du STI5518 à la masse (par exemple, connecteur rca) (3).

(1) commentaire du traducteur: je suppose que c'est le programme sur PC qui permet de gérer l'interface JTAG
(2) commentaire du traducteur: c'est vite dit ! La méthode JTAG annulle bien évidemment la garantie et elle est à réserver aux experts du fer à souder connaisseurs des microprocesseurs
(3) commentaire du traducteur: je ne sais pas de quel connecteur RCA il s'agit.

Hello

Some answers:

1) The program for update with jtag is jkeys,and it's included
in the zip file.You just have to conect it, ejecute jkeys, select
the dtt-3000 on ird-model.Of course that the jkeys.def file
has the correct definitions for microprocessor an flash memory.
It´s have been proved with several receivers, and all ok.
With save mem button, you can dump the flash of the receiver
onto a file.
You can remove the transistor, and make all the process( save
flash, and then go to flash programing, in flash programing the
erase and the programing in full mode, as it comes),don't have
to make the dump and then remove transistor and erase flash
and programing, it's not neccesary.

2) If the receiver it's not blocked you don't have to join the pin 115
of sti-5518 to ground.Just have to take care with removing and
soldering the transistor, you have to be experienced with electronics
soldering.

3) Of course, when I talk about rca connector, it's the one in the back of
the receiver, you have to make the conexion on the external, not the
center.You know, in a receiver ground it's for example, the metal
box in wich the receiver has been assembled.In this receiver the case
is made of plastic, but the tv aerial in connector has the ground in
external surface, like the tv aerial out connector, so here is another
posibility to connect the pin 115 to ground.It's easy!!!

This is a personal opinion:

I don't think that because of the update of the receiver, you have to
lose guarantee. Just think that what I have posted, may have been posted
by the owner of the brand ( TECHWOOD). It´s a shame to sell a receiver
in wich you can organize channels, and in wich channels appears like this:
801,802,803 etc...And i'm sure that they have the corresponding upgrade,
but, tell me, here in spain, and considering the price of the receiver,
(you can see another clone here(it's the OPTEX ORT 8800, for 35 €):

Do you think that you have to worry about guarantee? And in a receiver
that don't have teletext option.And the worst, is that, in this receiver, the
teletext is included on the software, so maybe there is a firmware wich
have the teletext option, but... in the remote control you don't have the
teletext key, so it's imposible.You can always say: my tv have teletext
option, yes but for use it with tnt you have to select av mode on the
configuration, because in RGB mode it's impossible.
